Christy Johnson

I first moved to Corvallis in 2016 to study sustainable forest management at Oregon State University, where I earned my PhD studying ponderosa pine responses to fire. After school I spent a few years in eastern Oregon, married my wonderful husband, and eventually moved back to the community I love in Corvallis. I am a federal employee and work to help forest managers to implement prescribed fire, understand fire risk and strategies for community protection, and restore areas impacted by severe fire. I am qualified as a wildland firefighter and enjoy serving as a resource advisor and assisting with burned area emergency response teams. I joined the Corvallis Rural Fire Protection District board in 2025 to serve my community and ensure that it is fire-safe.
